Data Processing at the Edge

Several forces have been pushing technology organizations towards the notion of “Edge Computing”. Especially with advent of IoT, there’s a growing realization that a centralized cloud infrastructure is cost-prohibitive when it comes to large data volumes.

This session will examine edge computing in the context of processing large amounts of streaming data close to the source. It will introduce a technical architecture that’s an alternative to traditional centralized data processing, along with several case studies.

BTree is proud to host the event at its facility in Herndon , VA on 26th Apr at 5:30 PM EST . Pizza and drinks will be served at the event.

Speaker Bio: Amir Halfon is VP of Strategic Solutions at iguazio, which provides a high-performance data platform that handles large volumes in real time. Before joining iguazio, Amir served as field CTO and product director at companies such as Oracle, MarkLogic, Sun and Rocana (Splunk), where he’s played a major role in projects involving Big Data, Cloud Computing and FinTech. He is a frequent invited speaker at industry conferences and contributed to several publications.

Kafka is empowering users to move from legacy infrastructures towards a modern, data-driven architecture.

In this presentation we will discuss

The new paradigm shift to data-driven architecture

What is Apache Kafka

How data driven architecture enables decoupled high velocity development.

Speaker for this session is Will LaForest, Senior Director of Federal at Confluent . In his current position, Mr. LaForest evangelizes the benefits of Event Stream Processing, Data Centric Enterprise, and open source software is addressing mission challenges in the Government.

BTree Solutions Inc is proud to host this event at their office in Herndon, VA. Come join us during this session. Pizza and drinks will be served at the event too.

BTree Sweet-Secure-Juicy AWS AMI

BTree is proud to host AMI on AWS Marketplace (BTree Sweet-Secure-Juicy-AMI – ami-10968a6a). Our AMI is built with the focus of optimizing memory and CPU usage while adding extra layers of security.  Go ahead and start using our AMI ( now available on AWS Marketplace).

Btree’s AMI is made with a vision to provide the performance optimized, secure AMI so we could deploy applications with less worries around security and performance. In a series of AMI’s and its versions we would like to address the security vulnerabilities and provide you with Performance tuned AMI’s.

Important Features that go along with this AMI are as listed below, If you want AMI to be tuned and hardened based on your workloads, contact us for a free consultation where we will provide you with a tuned & secured AMI for your Needs.

Features —
—>Kernel Tuning:

1. CPU Scheduler: Migration Latency and Tasksets.

Java Application would certainly benefit from reduced context switching.

2. Virtual Memory Swappiness:

Setting vm swappiness to 0 would make sure file system page cache is cleared first to free memory. This is useful if you have allocated swap.

3. Huge Pages

Making it to madvise. The option present by default in many kernels is enabled and has resulted in reduced CPU performance in general.

4. File System:

Page cache flushing tuned to provide the option for background flushing earlier, aggressive flushing later.

5. TCP buffer size, backlog tuned for web scale workloads.

—> Security:

Remove users, packages. To give the best vanilla clean operating system, User permissions, removed ICMP redirection, removed anonymous root logins.

If you have any questions about our AMI, do not hesitate to reach out to us via info@btreesolutionsinc.com

BTree partners with iguazio , a unified data platform company

BTree has partnered with iguazio a unified data platform company. iguazio is pioneering a fresh approach to the data management challenges faced by today’s enterprises.

The iguazio Unified Data Platform provides a new turnkey data stack to support continuous analytics and event-driven applications. iguazio delivers a fully integrated and elastically scalable cloud-native service, redefining the category with enterprise-grade capabilities and an application-centric, role-based, self-service operation.

Users and developers can create applications, consume, provision, search and share data through portals or simple RESTful APIs, similar to the public cloud; no IT involvement is needed. The platform is elastic and fault-tolerant. More computation and storage can be added seamlessly as needed, with built in projections and capacity planning to enable proactive operations.

The user and administrator management views provide abstractions and aggregations to simplify data management, and allow for holistic control of the data.

The platform can be deployed on-prem or in a cloud-hosted facility. Applications access data from anywhere using HTTP or other standard APIs, and data can be archived in cloud storage. The unique asynchronous API design mitigates dependency on latency and cuts network bandwidth, allowing fast access to data across distances.
